Critical Public Policy Issues Highlighted in Lecture Series
Poverty in America, the decline of the death penalty and the business case for solar energy were the focus of the inaugural lecture series, “Reframing Public Debates: Critical Issues of Our Time and Policy Options to Address Them.”
Speakers included: Randy Albedla, professor of economics and senior research fellow at the Center for Social Policy at the University of Massachusetts Boston; Frank Baumgartner, Miller-LaVigne Professor of Political Science, Penn State; and David Riley,
A second seminar series will occur in fall 2008 with a similar focus on a wide variety of public policy issues.
The series was organized by the departments of political science, women’s studies and geography; the Rock Ethics Institute, and the Center for Public Policy Research on Energy, Environment and Community-Well Being, sponsored by the Social Science Research Institute.
